John Greenleaf Whittier and M.F. Whittier papers, 1841-1891.

Two items from 1887 and 1891 are acknowledgments of birthday wishes by John Greenleaf Whittier, the former a letter to Grace Kelley, the latter printed for broad dissemination. The third is a letter from M.F. Whittier to John G. Whittier in 1841 listing members in a Quarterly Meeting in New England Yearly Meeting, marking an "x" by "dignitari," only 2 or 3 on the list are abolitionists. M.F. Whittier mentions the Yellow Fever brought by a vessel which evaded quarantine, Elisabeth, and a man who delivered lectures on slavery.
